Welcome to the New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association (NMHMA) website. The NMHMA was established in 1989 and continues its work to make health care more accessible to all New Mexicans. We negotiate medical discounts on behalf of the uninsured. We organize health fairs, free clinics, and provide mentoring opportunities that encourage students to consider a career in healthcare. If you are a current or prospective member, you can now renew your membership or become a member online by visiting the Membership Tab.

Our annual Continuing Medical Education Meeting Perspectives in Minority Health: Emerging Treatment Options for Substance Use Disorder will take place August 25, 2018. Please click here to see the flyer and get information on registration and accommodations. You can also go to https://www.nmhmacme2018.eventbrite.com to register for the CME program or click the button below.

Taste of Diversity & Silent Auction will also take place on August 25, 2018 beginning at 6:00 PM at Sandia Conference Center. A Taste of Diversity is an annual event celebrating the richness of diversity and its contribution to discovery in the health sciences. The New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association continues to support a diverse healthcare workforce by providing scholarships to medical students from many backgrounds. We will recognize three students on this night. With the spirit of diversity in mind, we’ll share foods from around the world. This year we’re featuring Paris, Antigua, Australia, and St. Lucia. You’ll also have the opportunity to win trips to these far off places. Come and join us for this fun night of celebration!

We have monthly Board meetings and we encourage you to attend. Please take some time to learn a little bit more about the work that we do by visiting the other tabs on our website. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us on our Contact Us page.

Respectfully,

Steve Lucero,
Executive Director
